The 1st International Competition for Young Artists 2016

The First New York International Competition for Young Artists welcomes pianists, instrumentalists, chamber ensembles and vocalists of all nationalities.  The ultimate goal of the competition is to identify and sustain young talent and to encourage and support excellence in the performance of classical music by showcasing the talents of young artists.

AWARDS
Grand Prize Winner (one will be chosen from among all the Divisions) will perform a concerto as a guest soloist with The International Chamber Orchestra of America in the 2017 season.*  Additional concert opportunities will also be arranged.

The First, Second and Third Prize winners of EACH Division will be invited to perform at Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall on Sunday, February 28th, 2016 at 7:30 PMfollowed by a Award Ceremony.** All participants will be awarded a Certificate of Outstanding Achievement. All finalists must attend the Award Ceremony on February 28th at 7:30 PM at Carnegie Hall in order to receive their prizes.

Up to $3000 in Prizes

The Best Ensemble Prize
The Best Performance of a work by an American Composer

REPERTOIRE REQUIREMENT00001Multiple entries are encouraged.  However, It is the contestant’s responsibility to make sure the repertoire is within time limits.  Please omit the repeats.  Adjudicators may request only portions of some works if the repertoire exceeds the time limits.  Competition repertoire may not be changed once the application is submitted.  All decisions of the jury will be final.  Winners are expected to honor all commitments resulting from their prizes.

AUDITIONS

The Final Round of competition will take place in Manhattan and Long Island (choose one of the two audition sites below).  Final Round will be scheduled upon receipt of the application form and fees.  Participants are strongly encouraged to dress in concert-attire and be fully prepared for the competition.  The results of the competition will be posted on the website and winners will be notified by phone or e-mail no later than February 22nd, 2016.

Participants are strongly encouraged to participate the live audition.  For those who live outside US and not able to attend the auditions, can submit a DVD recording or upload your video on YouTube and send the link by e-mail or fill in the link on the online application form.  Editing is strictly prohibited.  Please make sure to write your name legibly on the DVD.  The DVD will not be returned.

ACCOMPANIMENT 

A professional accompanist will be provided for an additional fee of $80.  Instrumentalists and singers are allowed to bring their own accompanists. To pay for piano accompaniment $80 only, click the button:

JUDGES

An international panel of qualified judges will evaluate auditions.

APPLICATION DEADLINE

The application form and application fees must be received by February 15th. 2016.  A late fee of $50 will be applied after February 15th. 2016.

*The date of the performance will depend on the availability of the Orchestra schedule
**The selected winners will perform at the Weill Hall at Carnegie Hall.  The performance fee is $200 ((Mandatory) which includes 4 complimentary tickets and a Certificate of Outstanding Achievement.  Additional tickets are available at $50 each.
***Use of recording equipment (photo and video cameras) during the recital is strictly prohibited due to the policy of Carnegie Hall.  Professional licensed photographer will be making archival pictures of performers at $50 each(Optional).
